I'm a huge fan of Scottish time-slip romances, mostly thanks to Diana Gabaldon. I knew I wanted to write a book in this genre, but I wanted to avoid having too many similarities to Outlander, so I started researching periods outside of the Jacobite rising. I came across The Battle of North Inch, also known as The Battle of the Clans. The moment I read about this fascinating bit of history, the entire book formed in my mind at once.
