If I have a problem, like if I am writing and my mind just goes blank!, I get up and walk away from the computer. I will do some other activity for about an half hour and then my brain seems to kick in again.
If I really get distracted or frustrated, I just give it up for the day and start again the next day. I don't reprimand myself, I just continue on. I have been fortunate thus far, that it hasn't been much of a problem.

Well, I love when the Ngäbe children see the books and get a big smile on their face. The teacher in a private Ngäbe school read the first book to the students and they really liked it. That's the biggest satisfaction- something of their own culture, just for them. I also love hobnobbing with other authors. The pleasure of meeting other authors and people in particular. I have a bookstand at the local market and really enjoy the interaction with the people who stop by to chat.

Go for it! I am 77 years old and just starting, so you can do it. That said, there is a lot of work to writing a picture book. I was used to writing short stories and had a time condensing down on my descriptions, etc. Lots of rewriting, editing forever it seems and still missing something- not easy if you want the book to be professional. Don't settle for less though, you want your book to be the best you can do. You don't have to be a perfectionist, and beat yourself up when mistakes are made, just regroup and your creative juices will help you with the solution.

I am currently working on a coloring book to go with my Bella & Chantey book. I also am working on a coloring book for Chalina's book which was in Spanish/Ngäbe.
I am working with a Ngäbe teacher on another concept book ,the Ngäbe alphabet in Spanish and Ngäbe.
Oh, and I am working on another picture book which will also involve the Camarca. I like to use the name of villages on the Comarca so the Ngäbe children recognize it.

I work with the Ngäbe nation on the Comarca in Panama. I saw that the children did not have any children's books. I inquired of a Ngäbe friend we have and he was only able to find one book written by a Ngäbe years ago about a rabbit. There may be more, but I haven't found them yet. I asked our local library and they said we do not have any children's books for Ngäbe children. How sad, a nation of 300,000 indigenous and no children's books.
