I recently worked as a personal financial consultant on two US military bases. One was an Air National Guard base receiving their first F35 fighter jets. I was allowed to photograph them at a semi-public event. I have to admit it was easy to think I was a spy. :)

I got the idea to write this book initially during the Financial Crises of 2008-2009. As a public high school teacher, I saw first hand the many obstacles everyday families were experiencing to simply survive. I was also inspired by the book Maxed Out that emphasized that most American's are financially illiterate. Financially illiterate citizens are easy to take advantage of and the statistics state that the American working poor is a prime target.
