Ben Dunn I work out a bit, and read a lot. More factual stuff nowadays than before. I have read very little Steven king, although his 'On Writing' is an amazing read. I think I've only ever read three of his books. All very good. No idea why I haven't read more. Possibly because they all seem like very long reads.
Ben Dunn I'm not sure if they are mystery or not. Chandler's from years ago. I grew up reading Alister MacClean - I think I managed to get all his books from second hand shops over the years. But are these Thrillers? Any Human Heart by William Boyd is the best book I have ever read. But I really wouldnt know how to classify that one.
Ben Dunn The basic premise is far right movements in UK. It had been in the news a lot. Thought of a twist on it while walking and a novel came about. The idea changed a bit, but it is still in there and it was the trigger.
Ben Dunn I read the news a lot and have opinions on most stuff. The ideas, the big ideas, come from here.
Ben Dunn It makes me feel good. I write for me, to entertain me. If others are entertained too, bonus. But the stories are for me.
Ben Dunn Go for a walk, or usually wait it out. Some days I simply cannot write. But I know I will soon enough.
Ben Dunn For me the best things I found out were 'get it written' which I took to mean, 'stop faffing about with trying to perfect paragraphs as you gonalong'. Get it all written (possibly badly) and then rewrite it better. Also, learn story structure. 7 point story structure. Understand that and you can build stories from ideas easier.
Ben Dunn I'm currently working on a 'comedy' 'satirical' novel about the quest for fame. A totally different type of novel. I fancied the challenge.
