My first book, I Shouldn't Be Here: Learning from a Miraculous Recovery, is a memoir of a terrible accident and my recovery. Readers have told me that it is like talking with me in the same room- my voice is genuine. This is very flattering and fulfilling. hopefully I can achieve this again.

After my accident, my family used a blog called Caringbridge to keep family and friends informed about my condition and recovery. Once I got home and was feeling up to it, I wrote entries for a few weeks and then dropped the mic. My niece Lucy said she would miss my writing and that I should write a blog. I had been thinking of a book, and her suggestion inspired me.
