I was visiting DC a few years ago, walking around the city, going to museums and checking out the sights. I looked down at the crosswalk and in the middle of the cracked paint I see what appears to me, an 8 bit, old Atari character. I stare at it for a little while, wondering if it happened organically or if someone put it there intentionally. Then I think to myself, I wonder if anyone else around here has noticed the same thing, or if this in only my overactive imagination. Through the day I keep playing with this notion that maybe if I searched the city, I would see more. Then I take it to a sinister level, what if this is a trick, to lure people to a hidden building for nefarious purposes, and the story took off from there.
