Marcelle Valentine Filling out Ask the Author questions on Goodreads. Just joking I have been fortunate to not suffer for long periods of time with writer's block. I am knocking on wood just so you all know. When it does happen I normally set my book aside jump into a video game or begin reading I find when I focus on something else the book begins to write itself (in my head of course) I also take a journal with me almost everywhere so that if I have an idea for a conversation, a chapter, a character I can write it down. My daughter has had more than one text from me with me writing notes on ideas. At first, she would send questions marks totally lost what my message means and now she just response with one word Book?
Marcelle Valentine Bringing a fantasy world alive for someone else. Taking something that has only lived in my head and making it a place others can visit. I think the most humbling compliment I have ever received is from a reader who reached out to me saying they were going through a rough time in their life and my book gave them an escape for a few hours.
Marcelle Valentine Chase that dream, be open to criticism, stand strong when others tell you no, every great book started with an idea and one word written.
Marcelle Valentine Book three of the Scarred by Fate series. I have some early notes for a new book/series not sure which yet as well as having several chapters already written for the fourth book in my current series.
Marcelle Valentine Other authors, video games and I have one heck of an imagination. I always have. One of my high school English teachers told me they believe I could BS my way through any paper he gave me and come away with an A. Since he hated giving out A's I took it as a huge compliment.
Marcelle Valentine Ironically I was having some difficulty sleeping, normally I would have just reached for my own fire to dive into a book but that night I started to think about how I would write a story, how the characters would act and this is what became the basis for my Scarred by Fate series. I had written a book back in my twenties so I pulled that out and took the first chapter of that book to start the first chapter of Ritual Nightmares.
