Sitting around a campfire with a friend of mine drinking a beer. My friend said, "I had this idea for a book. You can have it." His idea was a thriller, an action-packed story about a sick box that is possessed by an evil spirit. I liked the idea of a possessed sick box and had been thinking of writing a horror-comedy for some time. I'm not Catholic, but my mother is an artist and used to make these things that were just like sick boxes, with monkeys hanging off of them, and vines growing all around them. To me, it had comedy written all over it.
