Darla Garvey Just write the scenes and eventually they will all connect. As a former teacher who planned out every lesson - paying close attention to the order and sequence of each lesson - I naturally wanted a road map of my story line before I even began to write. Once I realized this was my biggest road block, I stopped worrying about where the story would lead me. Eventually each scene bridged itself in an order I didn't anticipate.
Darla Garvey One of the first things I remember thinking, after losing my 12-year-old son, was, "This is how the story ends. No one else will ever meet him." Then I read REAL MOUNTAINS by Dan Seftick. In his introduction he said that he wrote so that those who knew his son would always remember him. And those who never met him would wish that they had. That's when I realized that I was wrong. My son's story doesn't end if I write it, and people WILL get to meet him.
