What books would you recommend about the Irish potato famine? I'm American and your historical quotes were the first time I learned about it in that context. Like you said, I think it was glossed over in my education.

Maria Tureaud Hi Courtney. To learn more about the Great Hunger, my top choices are The Great Hunger: Ireland 1845-1849 by Cecil Woodham-Smith, Paddy's Lament by Thomas Gallagher, and as an adjacent study that discusses the conditions that led to the Great Hunger, Land Is All That Matters by Myles Duggan.

History is always taught by relevance in your country of residence, so it's not at all surprising that it was glossed-over in America (especially when the history books like to erase prejudice and mistreatment, which, until the Irish themselves were accepted as white in the 20th century, they was prejudice against them and they were mistreated ... with the exception of Anglo-Irish families who became major landowners in the US), so I'm delighted that This House Will Feed has become a catalyst for further education. I hope the books help!

I've really greatly enjoyed this book. it's become one of my favorites that I've borrowed from the library. Fantastic. And I absolutely love the world you created and would be tickled pink if you'd explore the world more in other novels. While partial to the characters in hopetown, I'd love to also see more! Kept bringing it to work with me to read on my break! Hope for more of Hopetown?
