Is your Burlington writers group still going?
Millicent Eidson Yes, the Burlington Writers Workshop (BWW) is still going. I have 2 other author critique groups so I’m not as involved with them but I’ll always be grateful that I started my author career with them.

How did your event in the Islands go?
Millicent Eidson Thanks for asking! 86 people signed up so my biggest author event so far. They stayed for questions and were enthusiastic purchasers. Very rewarding.

What letter are you up to in Books? I'm working through the draft of Lily's book 6.
Millicent Eidson I released “Fasciola” this summer so that’s novel 6. I’m writing the “Guinea Worm” and Henipa” novels now. It’s a lot of work writing 2 at the same time but fun.

I just finished Ebola, and thoroughly enjoyed it! I can hardly wait to wade into more of your series. Can you tell us what your next subject is?
Millicent Eidson "Fasciola," a liver fluke, is the next one in the alphabetical microbial mystery series. Maya investigates infections in Norway, the UK, New Zealand, and Bolivia. I'm in the final editing stages and hope to publish it in June. Thanks, Bonny, for your interest!

I voraciously read all of Robin Cook. Are your stories of a similar vein?
Millicent Eidson I enjoy Robin Cook too. I create my medical thrillers to have strong characters and exciting science like his books. However, he features the traditional physician pathologist in a hospital setting. My primary character is a public health veterinarian and the settings for my stories are in the environment where zoonotic diseases are hiding in animals, insects, the earth, and the water.

I've downloaded your book -- I can hardly wait to read it. I loved David Quammen's book, Spillover, and although his was nonfiction, I'm hooked on the subject of zoonotic disease. Do you see any similarities in his book and yours?
Millicent Eidson I also love Quammen's nonfiction "Spillover" and use it in the graduate school class I teach about zoonotic diseases and climate change. Yes, there's a lot of similarity with my MayaVerse microbial thrillers. Like Quammen, I want to share the excitement of field investigations into zoonotic diseases. So my fictional medical detectives spend most of their time out in the environment on disease control work, not in medical settings where most traditional medical thrillers take place.
