Research is the answer to writers block. Whether it's a plot issue, in need of a bit of a read through some great book or blogs on story structure, or simply a lack of inspiration that can be fixed by some youtube videos or google searching on the topic at hand, research tends to be my answer to writers block. That and simply putting my butt in seat and forcing words from my fingers.

I find stories to be endless fun. A good story is emotional, captivating, freeing, exciting, and teaches me something. So getting to write them is the greatest gift. Some days, when I sit alone at my desk writing, I cackle to myself as funny ideas come my way. It honestly feels like they're not my ideas. They're just my characters doing things that are too good.

Somewhere between Hallmark movies and SNL skits about Hallmark movies, there's my brain.
For my most recently published book, Fireworks Fade Fast, it was the second in a series and I already knew my main character: Eva. She was a bit of a bridezilla in my first book in the series (Romance is Dead), and in her story, I knew she needed to go through a serious transformation. So what better way to start her off than to have her wedding implode when she finds out her new husband is cheating, under the Fourth of July fireworks overhead!? What she did next was very unexpected, however! She surprised me! And so did her hunky counterpart, the effortlessly sweet, hot, firefighter, Drake. A man stuck with his abandoned baby nephew throughout this entire book.
