I am currently working on a western, a genre I love. Louis L'Amour was one of my favorite authors growing up and I think I've read his entire library at least twice. This book was inspired by L'Amour and will be dedicated to my Grandpa, a real life cowboy.

I would travel to Ken Follett's Kingsbridge where I would join Tom Builder as a skilled artisan inventing new ways to build magnificent cathedrals.

I was a federal agent for many years, so I would have a lot of content to choose from as far as real life mysteries, especially the ones that were never solved. But as far a personal mystery? One part of my ancestry leads back to the McKells or McKails of Scotland, with no clear connection to a particular clan. While the McKells are usually connected to the Cameron or MacAuley clans, my ancestors did not live in the "correct" locations for either. I can imagine my ancestor leaving his home clan, maybe by force, and settling in a land without family connection or protection.
