Laura E. Akers As a prosecuting attorney, I convicted a person who made death threats against me. Before he was released from prison, I trained with a CIA assassin. I lived in a pricey community. My trainer would sometimes call while I was at a social event to say, "Tomorrow we train in counter-surveillance, or knife fighting, or sniper rifles—" The incongruity between wealth and weapons made me want to mix up the two in a story. Hence, my book.
