I'm working on a novel called Ares, which is about the first manned mission to Mars. The first chapter appears at the end of my novel Infernum. You can also read it (and old versions of chapters 2-4) at https://www.fictionfactorybooks.com/ares .

After Infernum, I tried out a few new novel ideas. One of them had to do with samples returned from Mars—I think that's how I got Mars on the brain. I also have this great book called "Dark Mission - The Secret History of NASA". I say "great" because it's full of NASA conspiracy theories, which make awesome fodder for a sci fi novel. I can't remember exactly how I landed on the plot of Ares, but it's about the first manned mission to Mars.

Years ago I would wake up with these strange scratch-like red lines on my arms, shoulders, and torso that became more pronounced after the hot water of a shower. Alien abduction?
