I think it is important to remember that fiction is very subjective. Some people will like your works, and others will not. In our current world, there are a lot of people that hide spread hateful comments without consequence. The important thing to remember is how it made you feel to have the accomplishment. Accept compliments and constructive criticism with grace, and don't let hateful comments dictate your response. How something makes you feel is entirely up to you.

I think the feeling of knowing that you have shared something with everyone. I would be satisfied if a single person reads my work and is entertained by it.

Sometimes I will leave one idea and start working on another. At other times, it helps to make a basic outline for how you want to story to play out with major plot points or scenes. It gives a framework to flesh out with more details.
