I love shifter stories, especially ones that include a fantastical nature setting -- the woods, the mountains, the steppes, the jungles. Drawing on my own French-Canadian heritage and my love of history and religion, I set my shifter series, The Laurentian Mountain Clan, in the mountains of northern Quebec. There are references to the past history of the French settling in Quebec and Canada, and the supernatural creatures/characters come from the Breton (northern French) fairy tale-style background of werewolves, sorcerers, and druids. It's sort of a combination of all my favourite things in one!
