Kathleen Troy Thank you so much for stopping by to say, "Hi" at B&N. It's always such a joy meeting readers.
I attended the LA Times Book Festival this year and hope to next year as well. Were you also there?
Kathleen Troy Yes, that cute fluffy pup in the picture is Dylan and the hero of the Dylan's Dog Squad series. All the dogs I have had/trained were wonderful but he was truly the exception. During his lifetime he learned American Sign Language, had a 500 word and phrase vocabulary, understood English and Korean, could count to 10, could contact 9-1-1 with a special device and worked as a service dog for hospice, people actively dying. All the books in the series are or are based on true events in his life.

Kathleen Troy I've always written. Growing up, if I had a bad day at school, I just came home and wrote myself a better one. (No denial there!) Also, I grew up in a family that expected conversation at the dinner table. During the day I would find myself observing/listening to others so I would have something to contribute. I realized that people are fascinating and everyone has a story to tell.
Kathleen Troy Sit down and write. I've found that most people love the idea of being a writer rather than actually doing the writing. You have to want it. If you do, you will make it happen.
Kathleen Troy I guess I just keep writing. The story that's supposed to stay will find it's way out. I need to get the other parts and noise out first.
Kathleen Troy The best thing about being a writer is creating your own stories with scenarios and characters you love.
Kathleen Troy I recently returned from a research trip for Dyland and Casey. So now I'm working on Dylan's Dog Squad book 4.
