I hope you join - I absolutely love your reviews!
Amy Booker London Below from Neil Gaiman's Neverwhere. I would peruse the Floating Market at Harrod's.
Amy Booker I'm going to start killing off my characters.
It'll certainly spice up my autobiography.
Amy Booker Creating fantasy worlds and characters that live out situations we can only dream of. It's a nice place to visit.
Amy Booker Reading other books in the genre can inspire me, but mostly music. Music is what gets me going. It can be a lyric, a drum beat, a bass line, a guitar riff, a voice, it can be anything. I crank the playlist and get to it!
Amy Booker I work on the book's playlist. If I can't think of what to write next, I look for the mood instead. Every book should have a playlist; maybe not a song for each chapter like I try to do, but definitely moods and vibes. Once you get into it, the words come more smoothly.
Amy Booker Just do it. Even if you hate every word you come up with, eventually, you will find your voice. But you won't know that until you try. There are a lot of days where I think my writing is crap and some days where I think meh, it's okay. Only a few days do I think it was pretty good. Battle your inner writing demons, and just do it!
Amy Booker Currently, I'm working on book #2 in the Near Miss series - So Close. This one follows Matt, the drummer of Indigo King as they go on the summer shed tour that started in Almost. Matt is a very complex character, and he's definitely more than just a drummer...
Amy Booker I got the idea for the Near Miss series first by thinking about Ryan and Sarah, and the dynamic between the two characters. Having a "one that got away" always made me wonder what would have happened if they didn't? So, I wanted to write that story, and not let them get away from each other, no matter what life throws at them (and it's a lot!). It's a nice thought, anyway. :)
