Borre Winckel My mother was obsessed with one piece of jewelry, a diamond ring. This jewel was made from a pendant which belonged to her great-grandmother. The ring was designed in the 80s by a jeweler who had transitioned from a man to a woman. The ring was spectacular with a 5 carat Cushing-cut diamond. The old my mother got, the more hiding places she used to prevent losing this ring. One day the ring was gone, all the hiding places turned up negative. Many were accused of stealing the ring. Was it the gardener, the Kurdish refugee who helped around the house, the cleaning lady, or her own son - a sibling - who always wanted this ring for his only daughter? The ring never turned up.
