Finlay Beach All stories can fit the definition of “inspired” so I believe the author's faith is critical to outcome. Characters must develop in order to achieve hope in the future. Not all do. Just like real life we live our choices - grow or fail. Yes, faith guides the writer and the writer scribes the character.

TimeQuake by Kurt Vonnegut Jr. - I believe it is his last novel and I cannot believe I have not yet read it. He is my guilty pleasure.

Finlay Beach A mystery plot from my own life? Sure, I could write that, but I won’t and here’s why.
They adopted me into a cult at a susceptible age and eventually I even reached distinguished levels within the cult's hierarchy. Therefore, I could write with insider knowledge about the complexity of the cult. It's dogmas, the generational indoctrination, the brainwashing…. The illicit extraction of members' lifeblood, the oppression of its members and the violence within the ranks and outsiders stagers the mind. I can unravel their methods and expose the religious-like fervor. I could write that book, but I won’t, because it would never sell.
We don’t buy books about the life we all live.
