Amy Kaybach I get inspired in different ways. Sometimes just letting myself daydream will do it. Or reading a really good book will inspire me. Or watching a movie. Or just people watching or even eavesdropping (this drives my friend nuts because I can't help myself and if we are out eating somewhere or shopping somewhere I'll end up wrapped up in someone else's conversation).

I like to paint, but I don't paint well...but I got into painting rocks and leaving them throughout my neighborhood during covid because I was stuck working from home and needed an excuse to get the heck out of my house but sometimes that will inspire me too. Doing this taught me that just because I think it's not very good doesn't mean someone else doesn't think it's precious...so it inspires me too.

Getting out of the house or out of my comfort zone also inspires me. It just depends on my mood.
Amy Kaybach Usually they come to me visually. I'll see a picture in my head and have to write a story about it, which will then have another picture related to it, and eventually I'll have a mental scrapbook of what the story looks like it my head. I write linearly- it just how the stories come. I don't question it.

However Finding Harmony (Blind Rebels book 4) came to me in a completely different and frustrating way. I'd have trouble sleeping so I'd start going over his story and eventually fall back asleep and then dream about him or parts of his story. Then I'd wake up and then have trouble falling back asleep so I'd start going over his story, and then fall asleep to dream a little bit more about his story...you see the pattern here right?Because my sleep would be so fitful it would really mess with me the next day and I'd be grumpy.
Amy Kaybach All of the books in the Blind Rebels series are in various states of editing...but I already have a bunch of ideas for my next rockin' romance series. I just need to start its
Amy Kaybach Write.
Be brave and let someone read it.
Then revise it.
Let them read it again.
Put it in a draw and write something else.
Lather, rinse, repeat.
Amy Kaybach That moment when the story clicks with me. I'm a pantser (meaning I don't plot or outline my books. So sometimes it takes a bit before the story clicks with me and I understand where it's going. When that happens...it's like a relief comes over me and I have to actually slow myself down or I'll speed through to the end and not put in enough detail. It's something I'm working on- not writing too fast (I know it sounds counter-intuitive).
Amy Kaybach I had this with book four of the series, and honestly I just kept writing, even though I didn't like what was coming out- and eventually it clicked.
