Creating characters is very fun because when I write from their Point of View I feel like I have to take on their characteristics for a time. I like the mental challenge of becoming someone else for a while.

I do something else until it goes away. Sometimes that takes a week or month or two.

Don't write to get published or rich or famous. Don't write because a genre is popular, write something you want to write. Don't quit your day job. It's a lot easier to write if you have food on the table. Write because you like to read your own stories because it's possible that nobody else will read it.

Currently I have two novels that are essentially completed but I haven't found the confidence to publish them so I am working on a self-help series based on my career as a Physical Therapist because I can write it with confidence.

I decide on characters, then write scenes of their childhood, sometimes before creating the story line. Sometimes I model them after people I know and dream about how they would react in different scenarios. This seems to inspire plots in a book.

My most recent books were inspired by my career in Physical Therapy. I decided that I wanted to make information regarding weight loss, exercise, injury prevention and treatment, and motivation available to people in a low cost self-help series so they could be more independent in their health management.
