For the most part my inspiration for story ideas come from dreams that I have. Sometimes I understand what the dream is telling me to write about, while other times it takes me muddling through for a few days to figure out the symbolism of the dream.

My next novel coming out in June 2023 takes place in England during the 1960's. It's a music story about a rock n roll blues band that forms during the British Invasion. I would love to travel back to this time period, and check out all of the groovy music that went on during this iconic era.

I had a rather vivid dream when I was seventeen years old that is essentially the main scene on the docks with little Mary becoming lost. In some respects when I awoke from my dream, I felt that perhaps I was viewing myself in another lifetime. As time went on, it was as if I carried little Mary with me in my everyday life, and soon more of her came to light from subsequent dreams.
I wrote 'Where Are You Mary?' literally in sixty days! It was as if I knew her story, so needed no time to pause and think about what I would write next. It simply came to me as if I had seen it all before. Deja vu?

I would have to say the best thing about being a fiction writer is that it provides me with an escape from the chaos that plagues the real world.
It also allows me to share with others the stories I have floating around in my mind, in hopes that they may change or influence another's way of thinking.

I woke to begin writing my novel which was nearly finished. As I opened the file, to my utter horror the folder was completely blank, and could not be found anywhere on my hard drive!
(That would be my ultimate horror moment 100%)
