Chad Spradley For Southen Noir I was inspired by the Maltese Falcon. It was such a great movie I decided I wanted to write a story in that style. The book is set in modern times, but I think the story lends itself to the noir style.
Chad Spradley I finished the sequel to A Long Road to Redemption a few weeks ago. The title of the new book is Memories and Remorse and it picks up the story a few months after the events of Long Road. I am currently working on the third book in the series The Oaths We Keep. A seperate work is a Southern Noir, which is sort of a throw back to the detective fiims of the 40s and 50s, but set in modern times. Lastly I have an as yet untitled horror book about a squad of marines in WW 2 who are sent to investigate a secret Japanese base late in the war.
Chad Spradley Creating and developing characters is the best part about writing. In some ways it's like being a parent. You get to watch a character develop, grow and change, and it's like you get to know them personally.
Chad Spradley When I have writer's block I set the story aside and try and do something fun. Usually somewhere away from my house or anything familiar to me. I might try a new restaraunt or see a new movie, or get in the car and drive for a while. Anything to get a new experience, and that sometimes helps to simulate an idea.
