I am in the second draft of my next novel, She Carried the Sea. It is a slightly spooky story about grief and loss and redemption set in a tiny (fictional) seaside village in Nova Scotia, Canada.

It was partly an idea that came to me in a hotel room in Calgary Alberta while I was shooting a movie. Waking Up Wally, the Walter Gretzky Story. I had a bunch of days off and an amazing view from the 23rd floor. I was watching the traffic below, and I had an idea about a scene that was the aftermath of a terrible car crash in which the protagonist loses his family and sustains a brain injury. In a very short time, I wrote a screenpolay. The went into development to turn it into a series. When that fizzled after two years, the story became in integral part of my debut novel, Willow's Run.
