It's much easier than being an artist or musician. You don't need studio space, galleries and recording studios. It's cheap, portable and infinitely flexible; not bad for a bit pen, paper, and a cheap laptop.

I've just finished a novel called Tobi's Smile, a slice of 90's London noir. And, I have a draft version of a prequel to The Art of Crime: Diary of a Prison Art Tutor. It's turned into a bit of a beast of a memoir, stretching to two volumes. It's a bit of a David Sedaris cheers up Karl Ove Knausgaard charting my journey from working class kid born to a bizarrely dysfunctional family to the dizzy heights of the London art scene.
