Russell M. Linden A common piece of advice to aspiring writers is to "write what you know." That's not been helpful for me. Rather, I've written - books, blogs, articles - about ideas and people I'm eager to learn about. The process of learning usually gets me excited, leading to more learning and ultimately to writing.

Russell M. Linden Over the past 5-6 years our country has been struggling with disruptive changes: extreme weather events, the @Metoo movement, our dysfunctional politics, and of course the pandemic. The Torah also has a great deal of disruptive change, from the Great Flood and massive draughts to the liberation of the Israelites, and then some rebellions against Moses and God.

I realized we can learn from the Torah's main characters - as well as from contemporary leaders - about how to deal with disruptive change. And there's a great thirst for this kind of wisdom, given how difficult it is for most people to adapt to continual change.
