One of two ways: I either stop writing for a while (a month or two, maybe) and do other things. Or, I force myself to write if I know what direction the book needs to take. If I just write for twenty minutes a day everyday I can usually get past the blockage. The writing tends to be garbage, however, so once I'm back in business I need to heavily edit those sections!

I was a huge fan of the Oz books when I was a kid. I'm currently reading the series to my youngest daughter, which is a good refresher for me. I'd love to travel to Oz, because it's pretty laid-back. Lots of countryside, talking animals, magic. Yeah, I could see myself taking a good book and lounging by a river bank. I hear Munchkinland is especially beautiful.

Jump on in! Find your support base and share your work with them. Support can be in many forms; it started with my husband and best friend, and then my beta reader. Once I was ready to proceed with publishing I joined a writer's alliance for support and help in the publishing journey. And don't be afraid to ask questions as you go.

Book 2 of The familiar's Legacy! More adventuring with Cressida (no, that's not the title)!

Like many of my ideas, this one came to me from a rather odd dream. I don't want to give away any plot points for people who haven't read it, but the dream gave me three of my characters, including Cressida and Grimm, and a whole scene from the book, involving an abandoned bathroom. I awoke from this dream and thought, "Whoa. That's a cool sequence." From there, I fleshed out the characters and built not only a book, but an entire series around this one dream!
