My favorite long running book world is Mercedey Lackey's Valdemar series. The mesh of magic and mind-magic in a renaissance type world has always been appealing to me. I would want to interact with all of the different magical creatures and find out what it would be like to bond with one, especially the Companions.

As I have stated before I do not have a lot of time to write. Eyes of Blue took 5 years to get to publishing. Granted it was never the goal. It was just a way to relax, kill some time while feeling productive. With that I do not feel like I have ever had writers block. my stories are always in my head and writing them down helps get them out. If I am stuck at a place and cannot see the way forward today, I edit what has already been written. Or I find a later section that I know I need to write and gear that part of the story up. I let it flow naturally. Forcing a section paragraph or page out just to get to the next part always feels forced on the page.

I have never been good at small talk at parties. Even ones where it is only a small group of friends. Being a published author always gives me a segway into conversation. Not in a bragging way, but to ask people that read how they like their books to end. what they like in a book and how an author writes. Even what their favorite books were.

Writing for me is relaxing. I have a very hectic life. I can not live off the very small royalties so I am not a "writer". I have a job where I work 50 hours a week. Life gets in the way. But I make sure I take the time when I can to get behind the screen and put something down. Even if it is 30 minutes and I barely get a page. Do something a couple time a week to keep it moving forward.

I am in no position to give advice. My book has just hit from a self publishing author. But, my son is also aspiring to get a story out. So I will tell you what I tell him. Put it down on paper. Or a screen. Just get it down out of your head so you can read it. You may tweek it, or even scrap it. But you will never know until it is out there.

Currently I am writing the sequel to Eyes of Blue. It is titled A Dim Blue. In it we will learn about Matthew and his journey. Not just the end after the Fall. But starting at the very beginning of it all.

The idea for my Eyes of Blue grew from a variety of sources. I never liked how the lore surrounding Zombies made no scientific sense. Not how they were made, but how they were killed and the non-sensical nature of their "feeding". Partnering this with a line, that became the first line of the book, bouncing around in my head, i had the basic idea for a short story. I just had to write it down. Years later, here we are.
