Jeremy Janus I'm in a unique position where photography is my main driver of everything I do so I just go out and shoot in nature. It gives me time to process thoughts, ideas, and concepts which helps tremendously when I have difficulty getting past the writer's block.
Jeremy Janus Just start. You cannot become a master at anything until you become a beginner. Inspiration comes and goes in ebbs and flows so you once you start it can spark at the most random times. It puts you in a different headspace and starts to create the goal of accomplishing what you started.
Jeremy Janus I love that it compliments my photos and the process of intertwining the stories with my adventures. Photos are amazing but by themselves they have no context. Being able to provide people an insight into my psychology and mentally while I am shooting on these adventures is deeply meaningful and I hope it inspire people to get out and explore this beautiful world!
Jeremy Janus "Storms: The Beauty of Finding Light in the Darkness" is actually a very spiritual book for me. I dealt with depression, anxiety, and suicide contemplation in my latter adolescence and I have been able to become a light for others as I have addressed some of the issues that I had. I try to lead by example and this book is a testament to that. I started shooting lightning in 2019 and that became full blown storm chasing in 2020 due to the isolation we all experienced. This book is a compilation of photos from 2019-2022 and is a great time stamp of how I have been spending my time photographically the last few years.
Jeremy Janus Since I am a nature photographer by trade my images help inspire me to write. I never thought I would be able to put this many books out in my entire lifetime so when I get the creation inspiration I just sit down and flow with my descriptions of these wonderful moments I am able to capture in the wilderness.
Jeremy Janus I published 4 eBooks and 1 hardcover book this month which was a huge grind. I am beginning to work on a New Zealand eBook and that will be followed by an eBook on Maui, Hawaii. I would love to get them done by the end of the year but I am not sure if I will have the bandwidth yet or not.
