Barry Childs I would visit Captain Nemo and the Nautilus. I would endeavor to convince him to alter his ending and sail on to avenge and save the world.
Barry Childs The darkness grew deeper into blackness and the air chilled from the summer day's heat --Sarah's body swelled with fear and prepared for fight or flight. But Sarah knew the dark one approach, what did he want with her, but she knew what he wanted --running was of no use.
Barry Childs Oh dear, no, I cannot. I have struggled with this demon too often. However, a long walk or a short drive to the mountains or the beach clears the soul and breaks the demon's grip loose.

Then coffee with the rising sun and a good Kentucky single-barrel bourbon with the setting sun.
Barry Childs Writing is art --a creative and essential release of thought, emotion, and being. It is a sense of accomplishment. A feeling I have left behind a body of work beyond my life for others to enjoy.
Barry Childs Write. Read. Write. Read. Write. Read.
Barry Childs I am working on the sequel to RUBICON. RUBICON Red Flag Rising focuses on the dangers of nation-state active measures stirring the social tensions in the United States. Our enemies have decades-long plans to disrupt American ascension to global supremacy. Red Flag Rising pulls at these threads and lays out the inevitable end of self-destruction. However, I have faith in Xander Ridge to lead America back and restore order.
Barry Childs A cup of coffee with the rising sun. A good Kentucky single-barrel bourbon with the setting sun.
Barry Childs RUBICON was born from the ashes of an actual cyber attack in the energy sector. I witnessed the attack unfold, the disbelief of asset owners, and the inability to accept the unfolding events. The attack was minor in context. But the repercussions in terms of time and money were immense. Careers died, and others were born.

The early lack of a sense of urgency concerned me --gravely so—the more intelligent the cyber security professional, the higher the denial of vulnerability and capability. The cyber defenders have not met the enemy on their battlefield, have yet to face off in cyber combat, and do not appreciate the geo-politics. The result is a failure of imagination of the adversary's motivation. Battle wisdom eludes today's cyber defenders.

I wrote RUBICON to tell the story of failed imagination and wrath sought by adversaries of the United States.
