In college, i did a Game Design course. I created a design document about this game i would love to create, loads of information about characters and an outline of a story. Fast forward a few years and i found the document and instead of creating a full blown game, i decided to create a novel.

Make the time to do the research. I see a lot of beginner writers too focused on the story and when they have finished, they don't know what to do next. It's very important to do and it's worth doing.

I love entering my own universe. It's like playing a game, finding out what the characters are doing or going to do, and they can surprise you. Another answer would be the holding a physical copy of the book. It’s a great feeling.

I tend to write down a list of ideas (fights, descriptions, confrontation or discussions) before i start on my novels. If I stop or cannot come up with anything, then I work on the next idea. Sometimes they don't work but mostly they do.
