Hi Andrew thanks for your insightful question! As you know from reading my book, Narnia was a very important place for me to escape to! The themes of resilience, courage, facing one’s fears resonated and still do. I also think the theme of attempting to control and impose one’s will on nature also resonated. The witch in the book wanted the season to remain as winter … she lost that battle … so I also see a strong environmental theme running through the narrative - but it took the strength, courage and wisdom of an animal - Aslan- to bring the world back into balance 😊

I pat my rescue cat and go get a cup of tea. If I have time I go for a walk to the beach and sit and watch the ocean for awhile.

Seeing my book on the shelves of bookshops, particularly small, independent ones and knowing that my story is now 'out there' and hopefully making some small difference in the world.

Keep going and don't take any rejections personally. I have learnt that traditional publishing is a tough industry.

I have always loved the fantasy genre. I am currently working on a fun project - writing a children's fantasy which is such fabulous diversion from talking about my memoir. The story has similar themes - animals and biodiversity and connecting with nature but it is pure fantasy.

Writing this memoir was difficult at times yet also liberating and brought back such joyful memories of my time with the dolphins. I knew I had to tell my story to help them and perhaps bring a little hope into the world - particularly for people caught in the darkness of domestic violence.

I decided to sit down and finally finish my memoir after hearing about the strife the Port River dolphins were in early last year. Many calves were dying, and adults were mysteriously becoming very sick. I knew I had to tell the world about how special these dolphins are and the enormous impact they had on me personally - especially one, called Jock.
