I enjoyed and admired The Wicked Years series by Gregory Maguire. I had written a couple of nonfiction books and was casting about for novel ideas. As Mr. Maguire had recast the Wizard of Oz, it hit me that retelling some of humanity's ancient myths was an interesting possibility. I decided to retell a conglomeration of our creation myths using a science fiction platform. I was just extremely fortunate that an international publishing company (Next Chapter Publishing) saw the story's potential.
