After dealing with the overwhelming frustration, the only thing to do is wait it out. I try thinking about other things or developing an end to the story and then pretend I'm telling it to someone. I think a lot while driving or just before falling asleep. Problem is I never write down these ideas which would be a good thing, but I remember most of them.

I'd have to say being able to escape into another world and letting all the ideas just flow. It's kinda the flip side of being a reader and falling into the book. You sail along with the written story. As a writer you are the captain and the navigator, it's your decision where to sail.

Never give up, watch your grammar and spelling and write what you know.

Right now it is just an idea that swirls in my head and I 'think' the story. I can't say it's a haunting but it is somewhat supernatural but linked to history as well, local history that is as well as family history. I've got some research to do before I can get any writing done.

Inspiration comes from just about anywhere. Sometimes it's a memory or an event that just springboards into more. Song lyrics can start an idea and sometimes when reading a book or short story, I think I would have done this differently. Television and movie characters can also spur an idea, not to plagiarize what is but to open the mind to possibilities.
