Good to hear from you Cameron! Where I live doesn't necessarily influence my writing, but where I've travelled to does. I've written books set in Hamilton, New Zealand, and right now I'm working on a short book series set in Los Angeles, where I've travelled to. I have the main characters visit Disneyland, Universal Studios and other places I've been to in Southern California. I haven't bothered setting any books in Napier, New Zealand, where I live.

I'd travel to Harry Potter world and learn spells, especially the memory charm as I'd love to modify my parents' memories of my embarrassing childhood moments and make people who have bullied me without remorse forget who I am.

I take a break, go for a walk, practise my flute, talk to friends, whatever it takes to get my head back in check before resuming my writing.

Last-minute preparation for my third book before I submit it for editing (the deadline is soon). Also tweaking my fourth book, though I haven't scheduled it for editing yet.

Thinking about my nana, and how she always supported my flute playing, inspired me to write my second book, Her Big Shot, about a heroine whose father promised to bring her an amazing musical opportunity from the afterlife before dying of cancer during her childhood. When the hero, a TV soundtrack composer, comes into her life, the least expected thing happens. Of course they find themselves attracted to each other, and more than love blossoms. Check it out!

Writing gives me a voice that no one can silence, especially about disability rights issues, which no one seems to care about. In some future books I will talk about these in deep detail.

I was talking to a fellow flute player in one of the symphonic bands I play in and we discussed our experience with flirtatious male conductors! I came up with the idea of writing romance stories about male conductors, as I've never seen any before.

Don't let anyone or anything stop you from achieving your dream. Usually if people are telling you you'll fail or that you shouldn't do it, they are jealous or they have issues of their own which are nothing to do with you.
