I keep stacks of books around and read whatever I feel like at the moment. I usually have 6-10 books in progress but it's impossible to know what I will want to read several months from now.

Sometimes I pray or go for a walk. Usually, I just start writing anything from anywhere in the chapter. Whatever I can get unstuck from my head. Sometimes I outline where I want to go until the outline gets so detailed that I can just fill it in. Sometimes I switch projects and write something else just to get my creativity flowing. Then I come back to my original project and write. I don't get stuck often, prayer seems to keep me focused on what I feel God wants to say through me.

Write to your audience. Have a clear picture in mind of your target audience or your ideal reader. Be detailed about who they are and write for them. What story do they need to hear through your book? Why do they need to hear it? How will your story benefit them? Even if you are writing non-fiction, you are telling a story.
