Angela Haas I take a step back. If the words just aren't coming that means there's either a plot problem I can't quite write my way out of or that I need to go back to my inspirations to get those creative juices flowing again.

Don't try to force the writing. Put yourself in time out for a day or two. Read a new book. Talk to a fellow writer and then come back and see where you're at.
Angela Haas Publishing a novel can be the most difficult and the most rewarding experience at the same time. One of the best things I did, was join a writing community. I don't think I would have made it to the finish line without their help. I listened to Podcasts and discovered writing communities through supporting authors on Patreon. Sometimes they include access to a Slack or Facebook group when you become their Patreon member. When you join a writing community, you get support, the possibility of finding beta readers or critique partners. You can get editing and publishing advice and a variety of other resources. Just because more and more authors are self-publishing, doesn't mean they should totally go it alone.

Angela Haas I'm always inspired from TV and movies. I sometimes get inspiration when I hear an amazing song that helps me visualize a scene. Pinterest is an incredible tool for me. I can search and scroll on there and always find inspiration for scenes.
Angela Haas I was always drawn to Space Opera from the moment I watched Star Wars as a kid. Douglas Adams' novels like Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy also inspired me. I came up with the concept many, many moons ago when I was in high school, but it wasn't until I watched the film Black Panther that I started to think about my story again. I loved the film, but felt disappointed that Ramonda (Angela Bassett's character) didn't get to fight on the battlefield. I realized there weren't many films, TV shows or novels that I've scene/read where mature women get to be action stars. Keepers of the Universe was born out of that realization. I wanted my superheroes to be women with white hair and wrinkles in tactical gear kicking butt and saving the day!
