I was inspired to write my "Made You Look" book by photographing all the billboards in the skies around Los Angeles for over a decade, so I'd say I was inspired by the world around me. The ever-changing streets and skies of a sprawling city.

I wrote a blog called Daily Billboard Blog all about the amazing, eye-catching billboards around Los Angeles for over a decade, and as you guessed the blog featured a different billboard (or billboard campaign for a movie, TV show, fashion or drinks brands and more) every day. "Made You Look" is an extension of this blog (which is now shuttered) and features 100s of billboards taken between 2008 and 2021, and my observations about the recurring design ideas, gimmicks and tricks used by advertisers to stand out in the city skyline.
