Joseph J. Luciani The only fictional world I would like to visit is a place where psychologists and psychiatrists aren't needed.
Joseph J. Luciani No I haven't Dianne, but I'll take a look.
Joseph J. Luciani Doing research on my new Self-Coaching book. I'm currently starting The Mind & The Brain by Schwartz. Next will be Rewire Your Brain by Arden, followed by The Brain That Changes Itself, by Doidge. Fiction will have to wait, I do love this stuff!!! :-)
Joseph J. Luciani Interesting question. I would have to say that that my "mystery" has to do with the serendipity of my life. When I was in eighth grade I came down with a strep throat. The strep virus settled in my kidneys and I was bed ridden for my entire eighth grade year. Because of this, I wasn't able to take the exam for admission to Catholic high school. I therefore had no choice but to go to a public high school (a fate worse than death, since going to a Catholic high school was the goal of every parochial grammar school student). It was in Fort Lee High School that I met my future wife and wound up having two wonderful children. And the mystery is that everything important to me in life was because of a streptococcal virus!
Joseph J. Luciani Never squeeze too hard (this always makes things worse), be patient and ride out the storm. Like a swimmer caught in a rip current, no sense thrashing about and getting exhausted, just relax and ride out the current (block) until it releases you. Sometimes doing nothing is actually doing something. :-)
Joseph J. Luciani Finding yourself in your work. I can't tell you how satisfying it is to hold a book that you've written in your hands...like a child born into the world. Priceless!
Joseph J. Luciani Just sold my new book, Mind Over Mouth. The Self-Coaching approach to lifelong weight mastery. I'll be working with the publisher on this for the next year.
Joseph J. Luciani Make writing your passion, the rest is mechanics. It's also important to find your unique voice. For me, I had to learn to write as I speak. I find that a conversational tone (as if I'm actually talking to the reader) works best for me. In order to find your voice, you must first liberate yourself from perfectionistic striving along with goal-oriented impatience. Writing for the sheer sake of writing, now that's the ticket!
Joseph J. Luciani My inspiration comes from my natural curiosity. I'm always trying to both understand why we struggle and how we can liberate ourselves from needless insecurity-driven thinking. Life is too short to struggle! I gues I'd say that's my inspiration.
Joseph J. Luciani I've just sold a new book entitled Mind Over Mouth, the inspiration for this book along with my other self-coaching books comes from my own personal struggles along with the insights I've gleaned from patients over these past thirty-five plus years of private private practice.
