Michael Scott Phillips Hearing feedback from wonderful people who love my work.
Michael Scott Phillips The sequel to Beyond the Empyrean. I've already written the first 25,000 words.
Michael Scott Phillips The idea for Beyond the Empyrean originally started because I wanted to create a new character to help out the characters in When Morpheus Overslept when I wrote the sequel to that book, but it ultimately became it's own thing. The plot came from watching an episode of Andromeda with genetically modified characters and reading Call Me By Your Name and Ready Player One in the same month, and having them all collide and form a new molecule like nuclear fusion.
Michael Scott Phillips When I was a teenager, I was sitting in a chair writing in a notebook. I dropped my pen and it fell somewhere next to the chair. When I looked down, it was gone. It couldn't have rolled very far; it was plush carpet. I searched under the bed, under the curtains, under the dresser, all of which were at least 2 feet away from where the pen had apparently fallen. I looked all around, eventually lifting the chair out of the way. I never saw that pen again. I'm convinced that one day it'll fall out of the sky somewhere, as if it had dropped into an interdimensional time portal.

That's it! Interdimensional time portals. One day, the pen drops out of the sky right next to me. I immediately recognize it and realize that the incident is part of a time loop. I soon discover that time portals are forming all over the Earth and decide to investigate.
Michael Scott Phillips I'd go to Middle Earth and head straight for Rivendell, where I'd settle quietly and study Sindarin and Quenya and learn craft under Elrond and his people.
