Bernadette Y. Connor I have no idea where my ideas come from. It's like I try to go to sleep and someone wants to talk, and they do. I am as fascinated by the subjects and people as my readers are. I even have to go back to read it to believe I wrote it. I do know each one excites me once I open the portal for them.
Bernadette Y. Connor Music inspires me. I can't write in silence. If the radio is on and playing "oldies", I write all night when I'm in the zone.
Bernadette Y. Connor A novel that focuses on a church. How it grew, climbed, stumbled and fell and rose from the ashes.
Bernadette Y. Connor Don't be afraid of criticism, it only makes you better. Before you dismiss it, consider it. Sometimes it might not be 100 percent right, but it will spin your creative wheel in a tighter circle and sharpen your skills. Don't ever allow it to discourage you.
Bernadette Y. Connor Knowing people understand what I'm saying, are entertained and talk about it. I still have to pinch myself.
Bernadette Y. Connor I indulge it for a while because for me it means my mind is resetting and something entirely new will be coming down the pike. Allowing some things to fade makes room for new and exciting ideas. I continue to stimulate myself with other things, write little things here and there. Fighting the ebb and flow of creativity creates frustration. Let it be.
