Either I go for a walk and think about the issue I'm finding tricky. Or, the other thing I do is, rather than staring at a blank screen and doing nothing, I start editing what I've already done. That gets me back into the flow. If I hit a scene where the words aren't coming, I'll leave a note to come back to it later and move on to the next scene. Always be doing something, even if it's not what you planned. Doing nothing won't get the book written.

Making up stories is awesome. I love it. Seeing my first book in print was pretty awesome too.

Read a lot and write a lot. Try to write something every day, even if it's only 1 page, and even if you think it's rubbish. You will very quickly get better. I'm constantly trying to improve my craft, so I read books and blogs on writing.

I'm in the final stages of writing The Cover Up, which is a sequel to The Fraud. It's set in a pharmaceutical company, with some great characters and a thrilling ending. It's due to go to the editor next week.

I do a lot of walking and think about my characters and plot as I walk. By the time I get back to my desk, ideas are flowing out faster than I can type.
