This is a great question - I have learned a great deal about myself, and my writing, over my first two novels. The one key lesson I have learned as that it is not necessary to force myself to write. If I am experiencing a "block" or let's call it a "difficulty with plotting" I have found that what I need to do is think about where I am in my story, and where I want to go, and what will take me there. Sometimes the answer will come to me in the middle of the night, or perhaps as I wake up - or even as I am sitting in my chair with my lapptop on my knees. The brain is a marvelous tool of creativity, and, given the opportunity, it will respond. It has worked for me!
