I began in High School writing poems and short stories. Admiring nature and expressing feelings I didn't feel comfortable saying out loud. I continued over the years through life changes and circumstances journaling poems more than stories as I got older.

I step away for a while, I never force it. It may take a few days to revisit but it comes back once I walk away from it and don't try to make myself create something that isn't there...it tends to just come and flow naturally that way for me.

Focus on your craft, find experienced mentors but always be true to yourself. Don't allow others to dictate what story you want to tell or how you want to say it. You are the creator realize you cannot please everyone. Don't follow the trends as they change with the seasons. Be an artist, building word pictures.
