Brian Anderson I had a freshman comp professor who once said that no one "loves to write." He said that writing is difficult, frustrating, and often causes you to doubt yourself. What people love, he said, is to "have written." When you have a draft that seems to work, even if you know it still needs work, that's what you love.

Brian Anderson I used to work in a 24-hour restaurant that included a downstairs pub in the Minneapolis neighborhood of Dinkytown. The place had a wildly diverse clientele but perhaps the most interesting folks were the staff. My novel, The Shiver in Her Eyes, began to take shape from conversations and shared experiences from those days.
