Jeff Spaur I have a few WIPs. The next one I plan to focus on soon is my Sci-Fi lite story. It's about a bounty hunter, Blue (short for The Blueflame), who is a Shell (cyborg), and realizes he's part human. This reveals he's over 500 years old and serving his life sentence for the terrible crime he committed when he was fully human. When he remembers what he did, he wishes to forget again. He's eventually moves through a tormented journey to find the answer to the question, "Why?"
Jeff Spaur Write. There's no easy button. You just have to do it.
Jeff Spaur Exploring worlds or situations I'll most likely never experience in real life. I remember writing my first scene where a character gets killed. I changed the outcome because I just couldn't do it. I thought to myself, "Does this make me want to kill someone?" After listening to other authors speak, they helped me realize that exploring ideas is perfectly okay. It's how we get good stories, movies, TV, video games, etc. This allowed me to keep moving forward with my writing instead of worrying about why I was writing a certain scene.
Jeff Spaur Writer's block is difficult because it usually stems from a lack of motivation. Ways I get through this are to set wordcount goals for the day. Sometimes when the drive to write isn't there, I fail to make those goals, but usually end up writing more than if I didn't set one.
