S. Alston I stop writing and move on to something else. I don't ever say "writer's block" I simply say "now's not a good time" and then move on to either a different project or different task altogether. Then I return to it later when I feel rested and happy. I do always keep my notepad on my phone right by me, so if I have a good idea during the day or night, I can write it down and not forget.
S. Alston When people read your words and say that they enjoyed them or that it helped them in some way is so rewarding. It truly is the best gift.
S. Alston Believe in yourself! Write every day. Set yourself up for success by picking a time when you feel good and are not distracted. Spend a few minutes in quiet meditation where you just clear your mind of all thought first, and then set an intention for what you want to write about that day. Then wait for the good ideas to flow! (and then write them down!)
S. Alston I have several more books in the works right now.

S. Alston I love children's poetry, and my inspiration comes from the desire to empower these amazing young children, so they grow to be confident young adults who love themselves and who use their imaginations, and feel good most of the time. There are too many stressed-out kids these days, and it manifests in all sorts of physical conditions and diseases, and unfortunately, the emotional baggage that children learn when they are young usually sticks with them for a lifetime. So the intention behind all of my books is to help them learn how to self-soothe and tap into their inner wisdom and creativity, laugh, and have fun.
S. Alston We moved a lot when my children were little, and I wrote poems for our Christmas cards every time we did. Since so many people have moved during the pandemic, I thought it would be nice to answer the question most young children will inevitably have... Oh no! Will Santa Know That We've Moved?
