Long hikes, preferably in snow or windy weather so I feel the cobwebs in my brain clear out.
Second to that- Writing poetry usually gets me over the stuckness no matter what I'm trying to write.
Third tactic....I set the "important work" aside and just let words lose from my brain in no particular order. Then I see what showed up. Sometimes it's simply about unplugging the linguistic dam.

The exhilaration that hits like a firework when an idea spills out on the page and writes itself.

I know it's been said a million and a half times, but truly... trust your gut about what and how you write. Make a conscious choice about what ideas you want to put into the world and why those ideas are important to you.
Read lots of different writers, of many genres, and as many eras as you can stand. Also, read outside of your native country and native tongue if possible. when you expose yourself to quite different ways of using language- your writing gets better and you'll refine and define how you want to express your ideas in ways that align with your heart.

I wrote on Medium.com for a while and liked it but find Substack to offer more options for the varied content I want out in the world.

I love asking people what they would like to know or understand and then writing in response to that.
Often ideas come to me while I'm hiking or walking my dog and I'll make a quick voice note so I don't lose the thought by the end of the hike.

I started out sitting in coffee shops blogging and asking people I met, "what is one thing you would like to know before you go to sleep tonight." The essays in No Plaid Suits: How not to have a boring, normal life, were inspired from those original posts and grew from there.
